Grounding

Grounding is the practice of making direct contact with the surface of the Earth, such as walking barefoot on grass, sand, or soil. This direct contact allows the body to absorb free electrons from the Earth, and literally discharge into the earth, which can neutralize free radicals and reduce oxidative stress.

“We must teach ourselves, actively remind ourselves, what being wild means. We must make room for it and invite it back.”

Brian Meier

Reduced inflammation

Grounding is thought to neutralize free radicals, which can contribute to inflammation and related health issues.

Stress and anxiety relief

Grounding can promote relaxation and reduce stress by potentially increasing serotonin levels and shifting the autonomic nervous system towards a more relaxed state.

Mood enhancement

Grounding may positively influence mood by increasing serotonin levels and promoting feelings of well-being.

Pain reduction

Studies suggest grounding may help alleviate pain, including post-exercise muscle soreness.

Improved sleep

Grounding may improve sleep quality by reducing cortisol levels and promoting a more restful night's sleep.

How to Ground for Free:

  • Barefoot Walking: Simply walk barefoot on grass, sand, or dirt to reconnect with the earth’s natural energy.

  • Outdoor Relaxation: Sit or lie down on the ground while reading or meditating to experience grounding benefits.

Advanced Grounding Equipment:

  • PEMF Mats: If you have the means, a Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) mat can enhance the benefits of grounding by providing consistent and targeted electromagnetic therapy.
